Rip Curl Planet Presents: Planetman vs. Carbonator

A new eco-warrior blockbuster produced by Rip Curl Europe’s crew of concerned surfers

Imagine if fighting to protect our environment was as easy as fighting the wannabe bad guy when you are Superman. In that spirit, Rip Curl Planet has released a comic book-style educational movie about what we all should and should not do at the beach.

Planet Man vs. Carbonator was created, shot and edited by the Rip Curl Planet crew in Rip Curl’s European office. Most of the props used in the movie were made from recycled materials and the soundtrack was graciously supplied by French punk rock bank, Uncommon Men From Mars.

Our beaches are cherished playgrounds shared by surfers and non-surfers alike. We should all join forces to protect our coasts from human waste and the pressures of overdevelopment. Let’s remember that 80 percent of the trash on our beaches comes from inland! This rubbish comes from our houses and from industries making the products we buy.

At Rip Curl we are focused on making a concerted effort to minimize the impact of our surf contests on the environment, and we encourage all our visitors to the 51st Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach presented by Ford to do the same – use the recycling bins at the event site and offset your travel at Bells!

Enjoy the movie, share it, and save (y)our surf!
