Quiksilver & Roxy Pro Gold Coast 2015

From the 28th of February, the world’s surfing elite will converge on Snapper Rocks, in Australia for the opening of the 2015 World Surfing Championships that will start with the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast for the men, and simultaneously the Roxy Pro Gold Coast for women.
This year, a new era of professional surfing commences under the new title of The World Surf League (former ASP World Tour) with the Quiksilver Pro and the Roxy Pro Gold Coast opening the season for the best 34 male surfers and 18 female surfers on the planet.
Prestigious and legendary, this first stop of the Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour is also crucial for the World Championship title contenders. Gabriel Medina proved the importance of this first event last year, winning the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast, and a few months later becoming the first Brazilian World Champion in the history of surfing. It was the same story with the women, Stephanie Gilmore’s victory at the Roxy Pro got her off on the right foot for a season that would see her claim a 6th World Title.
