The Roxy Pro Gold Coast kicks off the 2016 WSL Women Championship Tour

March 10 – 21 at Snapper Rocks

The Roxy Pro Gold Coast will be kicking off the 2016 Samsung Galaxy WSL Championship Tour from March 10 – 21 at Snapper Rocks. For the past 18 years, Australia’s Gold Coast will be hosting the opening event of women’s CT campaign and gathering the world’s surfing stars on its world-renowned wave “The Superbank”.
Reigning world champion Carissa Moore (Haw) will be fiercely challenged by an amazing field of surfers in quest of earning a precious advantage towards the 2016 crown.

Event defending champion and 2015 World Champ Carissa Moore will have to deal with 6-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore’s (Aus) comeback. Looking forward to a much awaited return to competition, the Australian star has decided to make a run for her seventh world title. Moore’s domination will also be challenged by 2015 runner-up Courtney Conlogue (USA), Aussie champs Tyler Wright and Sally Fitzgibbons not forgetting South African rising talent Bianca Buitendag. The 22-year old Roxy surfer ended the 2015 season with a solid 4th place on the leaderboard. After reaching 3 finals last year, Bianca now aims for a first event victory and has the potential to achieve it. Alongside Stephanie Gilmore, Bianca Buitendag and Bronte Macauly (replacing Lakey Peterson), Roxy CT squad will be strengthened by rookie Chelsea Tuach (BrB).

The Roxy Pro Gold Coast wildcard’s name will be decided after event’s trials gathering Nao Omura (Jap), India Robinson (Aus), Alyssa Lock (Aus) and Roxy’s latest recruit Caroline Marks (USA), aged 14.
