Roxy Pro: heat draw announced

As the elite of global women’s surfing prepare to converge on France for the only French stage of the 2013 Women’s World Championship, the ASP has just unveiled the heat draw for the ROXY PRO. The sixth of the eight stages on the ASP Women’s World Tour is set to get under way – conditions permitting – on Wednesday 10 July, with everything to be decided by Sunday 14 July.

The World Champion and double title holder Stephanie Gilmore (Aus) will be first in the water, as she’ll be lining up in heat n°1 of the first round along with Team Roxy rookie Bianca Buitendag (RSA) and Brazil’s Silvana Lima. Current world n°1 Tyler Wright (Aus) will join the action in heat n°3, where she’ll be up against Hawaiian Alana Blanchard and the local wildcard from Biarritz, Lee-Ann Curren. As for the 2011 World Champ and current world n°2 Carissa Moore (Haw), she’ll be the top seed in heat 4 (up against Paige Hareb and Sofia Mulaovich), while world n°3 Sally Fitzgibbons (Aus) will go in heat 5 (against Malia Manuel and Sage Erickson). France’s Pauline Ado will be facing Lakey Peterson (USA) and Coco Ho (Haw) in the 6th and final heat of round one. Each surfer who wins her first round heat will go straight through to round 3, whilst her two opponents will get a second chance in the repechage (round 2).

Full coverage of the Roxy Pro will be broadcast live in HD on www.roxylive.com.

Engaged in the protection of its playgrounds since many years, Roxy is committed to reduce the environmental impacts of its events. In partnership with the ASP (The Association of Surfing Professionals), Sustainable Surf has developed the first ever set of “Green Guidelines” designed to help facilitate the running of more “ocean-friendly” surfing events.
The Deep blue surfing event certification focus on 5 main categories allowing us to evaluate and improve the performance of our events: waste management, transport, energy, climate change and community support.
Conscious that our playgrounds’ protection will not be possible without the support of everyone, this certification is also an opportunity to send a strong message to our partners, public and other players of the industry.
