Roxy Pro: the stars of women’s surfing head for Biarritz

From July 10th to 14th, the Roxy Pro Biarritz will be hosting the elite of women’s surfing, for the only European stage of the 2013 ASP Women’s World Championship Tour.
Now an essential date on the tour calendar, the annual ROXY PRO welcomes the stars of the shortboard to its home in the majestic surroundings of the Basque coast. It’s an event not to be missed, and a chance for Roxy to celebrate women’s surfing, share its philosophy on life with the public, and of course organize a whole line-up of free concerts and entertainments in a party atmosphere.
Out on the waves, the crème de la crème of women’s surfing will be led by the formidable Australian duo: Stephanie Gilmore, five-times World Champion, and Sally Fitzgibbons, three-times Vice-World Champion.
Last year, Steph stormed to a thrilling second successive victory in the Basque country, sealing an astonishing fifth world title in the process. Sally is one of the tour’s brightest lights, and a genuine contender for world championship glory and victory at the Roxy Pro.
But the Aussie face-off could be gatecrashed, as France’s rising star looks to get in on the action. Pauline Ado – the only European on the tour – has been plying her trade among the elite for the last three seasons. She’s now reaching her peak, and her tour experience and local knowledge could well see her triumph on home soil.
With such a fiercely competitive women’s Top 17 this season, making predictions is a risky business. One thing’s for sure, though. The battle will be as hard-fought as it is thrilling.
In addition to the spectacular surfing showdown provided by the sirens of the sea, there will be something for everyone on the shore too. Sporty types can look forward to yoga, fitness or stretching workshops and even stand-up paddle lessons.
While for music lovers, the Roxy Pro will be putting on its now traditional free concert, this year offered by Sosh, at the Port Vieux beach. From Lilly Wood & the Prick to Singtank via The Shoes, The Sounds, Plastiscines and Miky Green, the Roxy Pro has always come up with the goods, hosting the hottest pop and rock outfits around. Roxy Pro : les stars du surf féminin à Biarritz

Du 10 au 14 Juillet, le Roxy Pro Biarritz réunit les meilleures surfeuses du monde pour disputer l’unique manche européenne du Championnat du Monde de Surf Féminin ASP 2013.
Devenu un must sur l’ASP Women’s World Tour, c’est dans le majestueux écrin de la Côte des Basques à Biarritz que le ROXY PRO reçoit désormais chaque année les stars du shortboard. L’occasion pour Roxy de célébrer le surf féminin, faire partager son style de vie au public et programmer une multitude d’événements musicaux et festifs gratuits.
Côté sportif, l’élite féminine du surf sera conduite par un irrésistible duo australien : Stephanie Gilmore, quintuple Championne du Monde et Sally Fitzgibbons, triple vice-championne du Monde.
L’an passé, la belle Steph avait fait chavirer la foule en s’imposant pour la seconde année consécutive au Pays Basque, décrochant par la même occasion son cinquième titre mondial. Quant à la pétillante Sally, elle est une véritable star du circuit et une candidate avérée au titre mondial ainsi qu’à la victoire au Roxy Pro. Pour arbitrer ce mano a mano aussie, une Française – la seule Européenne du circuit – pourrait jouer les trouble-fête. Pauline Ado qui évolue parmi les 17 meilleures surfeuses du monde depuis 3 saisons, arrive à maturité et possède l’expérience du tour et du spot pour s’imposer sur ses terres.
Cependant, la densité extraordinaire du Top 17 féminin international cette saison rend les pronostics compliqués et la lutte pour la victoire, particulièrement passionnante.
Le spectacle offert par les sirènes du tube sur les vagues de la Côte des Basques se prolongera sur la plage avec des ateliers de yoga, fitness ou stretching ouverts à tous sans oublier des initiations au stand up paddle… Côté musique, le Roxy Pro a coutume d’organiser un grand concert gratuit offert par Sosh, Plage du Port Vieux. De Lilly Wood & the Prick à Singtank en passant par The Shoes, The Sounds, Plastiscines, Miky Green, le Roxy Pro a toujours mis à l’affiche les formations pop/rock les plus tendances du moment.
